There is no maker's mark or signature can be found on this rare and well made triangular divider. However, it may be dated to the beginning of the nineteenth century as the shape and construction of which are almost identical to the one on the engraved plate I dated 1811 by John Farey from Rees's Cyclopaedia or Dictionary of Arts and Sciences (1808-19), as shown in Drawing Instruments 1580-1980, p. 50. In addition, a similar triangular divider shown in Antique Tools and Instruments, p. 76, pl. 8, has been dated to early 18th century.
